About Us
The group of historical fencing Rotyka (which means literally “high jinks”) was founded in 1999. Now it has 13 members who mostly come from the group of historical fencing LA-MA (it was founded in 1992 and now doesn’t exists). We are interested in history from the 1st to 19th century, mostly in late gothic period and the time of the thirty year war. We have a great selection of equipment and armament for these periods including historical tents and various types of stabbing, cutting and shooting weapons.
With the years passing the group enjoyed a lot of changes. Starting as all-gothic all-bashing fencing/archery gang which was taking part on both historical and fantasy events through „30-years war“ fighting regiment and scenic/film fencing company. Finally settling as a Dragoons regiment, fencing school and archery company, with some of our members actively competing in HEMA tournaments.
We Offer
Individual duels
Currently the group does not offer any scenic programme. Nevertheless, our long-standing experience with scenic sword-fighting shows (honoured by prestige awards from international competitions) is still ready to be shown in a customized programme prepared according to your requirements.
Therefore, we offer shorter shows which command audience attention. We can offer shows with a large variety of weapons and costumes starting with daggers, dusacks and through swords and polearms to rapiers and flintlock pistols. For your entertainment, knights will engage in foot tournaments, bandits will fight for gold as well as musketeers or pirates will draw their rapiers. Even roman legionnaires or Napoleonic soldiers may draw your attention.
A skilled lesson about weapons, armours, soldiers and battle tactics from the antique
to Napoleonic wars periods may be part of the performance.
We can also offer ceremony bodyguards or guards – just as you wish
in gothic or baroque armours and with whichever weapons from our offer you would like.
Archery and crossbow shooting
We also deal with samples of historical archery and shooting from crossbows. We use the following weapons:
– all-wooden English longbows
– all-wooden half-reflexive bows
– all-wooden composite bows
– late gothic war crossbows
– baroque hunting crossbows
An archery equipment commented exposition may be a part of these exhibitions. Such an exhibition includes a rich collection of arrowheads and arrows. Archery exhibition may also include a participation of the audience with practical course of archery under professional supervision. Such an exhibition is limited to 10+ age. All these shows are prepared for historical events, children celebrations and also company rauts or teambuildings where it can be held in the form of a tournament.
Games and competitions
Games and competitions
We can organize for you many historical games and competitions, for example:
– throwing spears, knifes, stars or axes
– sling (with sling), archery
– various type of matches
– medieval football and other team games
– parlour historical games
Mainly for spectators (for everybody – men and women, big or small) or simply as our own show.
Historical camp
The large historical camp can be part of our show – an army encampment with exhibitions of crafts and historical life.
We have several various types of tents beginning with simple soldier “A-type” tents (used already by the Roman army,
size is around 3x4x2,5 metre) and ending with luxurious tents with an octahedron plan.
The tents of course have adequate interior. The movable fireplace and wooden tables and benches are part of the camp too.
